What should a branding package include and cost?

A branding package should include what your team needs to apply the brand without a designer: logo files, type, colour, image direction and a usable guide. Add strategy and templates when more people and channels are involved. At 5DAYS packages start from €1,450, €2,450 or €4,950, excluding VAT.

What should every branding package include?

Every package should leave you able to use the brand without going back to the designer for each small job. Whatever a supplier calls it, these are the basics:

  • Logo files in the versions and formats you need, including the source files
  • A type system with hierarchy and clear licences
  • A colour palette with exact values and roles
  • Image direction, so that future photos and visuals belong together
  • A guide with rules and examples your team will actually open
  • Handover, with clear wording about who owns the work

What drives the cost of a branding package?

Scope drives the cost, and four questions set most of it:

  1. How much is new? Refining an existing brand is less work than starting from nothing.
  2. How much thinking is included? Visual direction is one thing. Worked-out brand strategy is another.
  3. How far does it reach? A guide alone, or also templates, social formats, print and signage?
  4. How many people decide? A long approval chain costs time, and someone pays for it.

Which level do you need?

Decide based on what you have and on who will use it. This is the rule we'd apply:

  • Brand Refresh if people know you, your story still fits and it mainly looks dated. Read rebrand or refresh if you're in doubt.
  • Brand Identity if you're starting out or need a new look, and a small team will apply it.
  • Brand System if several people or partners create materials across many channels, or if you need the strategy clarified first.

What's usually left out?

Ask about each of these, because they often come up later. With us, new photo shoots, extensive AI image production and specialist image editing are separate, and naming is quoted separately. A website isn't part of a branding package either: see how much a website costs.

  • Photography and image production
  • Naming and trade mark checks
  • Font licences for your whole team
  • Printing, signage and vehicle wrapping
  • Website design and development
  • Your team's own time for the switch

How do you compare two offers?

Ask the same questions of both. What exactly do I get, in which file formats? How many feedback rounds are included? Is any strategy included, or only visual work? Who owns the files? A warning sign is a long list of deliverables with nothing about what they're based on. Twenty social templates won't help if nobody decided what the brand is meant to say.
